Luxurious Fenway 2BR Penthouse w/ Roof Deck

The apartment is in one of the best locations in the city, the views are stunning, the roof deck is great (though you won’t be hanging out there from Thanksgiving to mid-April.) The furnishings are solid. I take issue with the use of the word “luxurious” in the VRBO description. The only thing thinner than the paper towels they provided was the bath towels. Motel 6 would have retired these bath towels. A year ago. The refrigerator is adequate but the freezer takes about 48 hours to actually, ya know, freeze something and is prone to outages that require flipping breaker switches on and off. The garbage disposal backed up.The first time you try to use the oven burners the only thing that will happen is the kitchen will fill with the smell of gas. It’s then that you’ll deduce why the drawer by the stove contains three lighters. So you have to manually light the stove top. An insurmountable problem? No. But “luxury”? Um... Comes with an ironing board—luxury!—but no cover—not luxury. (But perfect if you like a waffle texture imprinted on your clothing.) They provided two trash bags for a two week stay, cheap dish soap, and scratchy toilet paper from a brand--Nova--I never heard of (but I’m pretty sure it’s not because said brand is so “luxury” that only the 1% know it.) Pay a premium to rent this place because of a killer location with killer views and easy access to hospitals, Fenway Park, Back Bay, and Cambridge. But don’t expect premium amenities or “luxury."

Spacious and comfortable penthouse with super location and panoramic views. Positive: Location is great. The apartment is spacious and well designed. It’s well lit with great views of the Charles river and Cambridge. Negative: The entrance and stairway. Would have been good to have at least a starter pack in the kitchen of coffee, tea, sugar, and bottled water.

The apartment was close to perfect (view, spacious, clean) except for one glaring omission.....NO ELEVATOR. I live in AZ and climb mountains and this was even too much for me. Not only are there six flights, they are steep and narrow. What is not mentioned is that when you reach the sixth floor you enter the unit to ANOTHER set of stairs (17 steps) to get to main floor. This place is not safe for toddlers or elderly...39 steps! The ad should be revised immediately indicating no elevator and guests should receive some sort of compensation for false advertising.

Great spot for easy/quick access to Fenway and Back Bay. Walkable to both in minutes. Area felt very safe. The unit shows a little wear and tear but overall nice. I had a maintenance issue upon arrival and had it taken care of by a very kind, friendly maintenance person. The listing does state there is an elevator on the property. In a previous review, the guests stated that it wasn't functioning upon their arrival. I reached out to the owners prior to my stay to confirm the elevator was working as the unit in on the fifth floor and was told that everything was addressed and in working order. Upon arrival, this was not the case, and the elevator was still not functioning. Tight, steep stairs do offer an inconvenience, something to consider if anyone in your party may have trouble with something like that. My advice is to assume that the elevator isn't working.

Wonderful property in a great location. View alone was worth it. Very clean and very spacious. The only challenge was the lack of a working elevator. The 5 flights wasn’t pleasant so it may be difficult for some. It would be also nice to appoint the location with basics like paper towels and coffee etc. again overall really enjoyed it
