Tranquil South End Studio

Beware! The photos of this property totally misrepresent the actual apartment. The real apartment is dark and very dirty with deferred maintenance everywhere. From filthy floors/area rug to dirty/stained couch, inches of dust on cabinet doors, sticky substance on kitchen tiles to cracked tiles and holes in the bathroom walls. It is a basement apartment with the only window looking out to garbage pails. The management was very responsive but the only solution was to come and clean it (again?) at 10pm then return the next day to clean the sofa which will take 12-24 hours to dry. The door operates with a code but there is no deadbolt to secure the door when you are inside. Who else has that code? Also, management would not communicate about these issues on the Vrbo app so VRBO cannot have evidence of the conversation about problems or see photos first hand. They began texting off app. We did not stay even one night. We left and found lodging elsewhere. Once we said we were checking out, management stopped communicating entirely.

Vastly overpriced. Positive: Great location-wise. Negative: Very run down and dilapidated — needed significant investment. Noisy standalone air conditioning unit, no washing facilities and oven didn’t work.

A tent would have been a better option & cheaper Positive: We were only staying 1 night. The property manager / team were fantastic to deal with. We experienced a number issues. They were very prompt responding to us & actioned what they could to make our stay ok. Negative: When we arrived there were a number of issues No air con, TV didn't work, power sockets didn't work apart from 1 in kitchen, bathroom light didn't work so we had to use phones to see (no windows in bathroom). There were also issues with the electronic door lock which prevented us from locking apartment door. This was resolved within an hour (thanks to the property manager) We noticed in earlier reviews of the property (July 2025) that the aircon didn't work so were surprised that this was still an issue 2 months later. The room was very small. There was a 2 - 3 foot gap between the bed & the couch. They had a circular table (also 2 - 3 foot wide) in that gap so we had to climb on the couch to mover around it???

Positive: The location of the place was wonderful for walking to Fenway Park and the surrounding area. I really enjoyed my stay, and the host was very communicative and accommodating. I would recommend staying here for a solo traveler.
